Traditionally, if a GP wanted their patient to have an ultrasound, they had to refer them to a radiologist or cardiologist, and it could take up to a couple of weeks to get it done. So, a lot of patients missed out on getting an ultrasound because it was inconvenient.
However, recent developments in the technology have enabled point-of-care ultrasound i.e., ultrasound brought to the patient and performed in real-time. We have a trained ultrasound technician at our medical centre. This means we can do an ultrasound without having to refer you to a specialist.
